SFC Consultation Paper on possible reforms to the prospectus regime in the Companies Ordinance
The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) released a Consultation Paper launching the final phase of a three-part review and reform exercise designed to modernise the regime governing the public offering of shares and debentures in the Companies Ordiance. The primary objectives for this exercise are to facilitate securiteis issuance in Hong Kong as well as to enhance investor protection.

The Hong Kong Capital Markets Association
welcomes the passing of
the Revenue (No.3) Bill 2003 which allows more favourable tax concession to
qualifying debt instruments.

Investor Education Seminar
The Securities and Futures Commission ("SFC") and the Hong Kong Exchange ("HKEx") are joint-hosting a series of investor education seminars with the Open University of Hong Kong, starting from 30th August 2003. The seminars comprise of various topics and aspects of investments, including bonds, for individual investors in Hong Kong. Such objectives are aligned with the Education Sub-Committee's mission and the HKCMA is glad to be one of the supporting organisations of this forthcoming event.
